History-Based Selective Boolean Operations for Feature-Based Multi-resolution Modeling

چکیده
The feature-based multi-resolution models of a solid represent an object at different levels of detail (LOD), particularly in the unit of feature, according to a certain LOD criterion. The need of feature-based multi-resolution modeling is currently increasing for various engineering tasks, such as analysis, network-based collaborative design, virtual prototyping and manufacturing. To provide feature-based multi-resolution models, it is essential to generate a valid and unique solid model at each LOD after feature rearrangement. To meet this requirement, we propose the history-based selective Boolean operations that satisfy the commutative law between union and subtraction by considering the history of the Boolean operations for the features. Owing to the commutative properties, the feature-based multi-resolution modeling technique based on these operations guarantees the same resulting shape as the original, and provides a unique and reasonable shape at each intermediate LOD after arbitrary feature rearrangement.

متن کاملBoolean Operations on Feature-based Models
Boolean operations and feature-based modeling are closely linked domains. For example, several, sometimes many Boolean operations are involved during a feature instantiation or modification. So Boolean combinations are tools used “inside” feature-based modeling and it is interesting to study the way to make these operations faster or less numerous by using the fact that they are applying to fea...

The goal of multi-frame Super Resolution (SR) is to fuse multiple Low Resolution (LR) images to produce one High Resolution (HR) image. The major challenge of classic SR approaches is accurate motion estimation between the frames. To handle this challenge, fuzzy motion estimation method has been proposed that replaces value of each pixel using the weighted averaging all its neighboring pixels i...
متن کاملA new 2D block ordering system for wavelet-based multi-resolution up-scaling
A complete and accurate analysis of the complex spatial structure of heterogeneous hydrocarbon reservoirs requires detailed geological models, i.e. fine resolution models. Due to the high computational cost of simulating such models, single resolution up-scaling techniques are commonly used to reduce the volume of the simulated models at the expense of losing the precision. Several multi-scale ...

We present a framework for 3D model reconstruction, which has potential applications to a spectrum of engineering problems with impacts on rapid design and prototyping, shape analysis, and virtual reality. The framework, composed of four main components, provides a systematic solution to reconstruct geometric model from the surface mesh of an existing object. First, the input mesh is pre-proces...
